Giving

Dear St Margaret’s Church family,

We are really encouraged by the growth we are seeing at St Margaret’s. Our electoral roll is now over 100 people, our Sunday congregations are growing, and we are seeing more children and young people coming along to church and our activities. We also shared our new church vision for 2027 which you can read here.

It's an exciting vision for growth, which brings new opportunities – and new costs.

One of the things we are particularly excited about is employing a part-time student youth worker. We want to invest in young people, help them to hear about Jesus, and build something that will continue to grow well into the future.

At the same time, our current finances aren't sustainable. We are expecting a significant deficit this year, and although we are taking steps to manage our finances and reduce costs where we can, many of our costs are fixed.

So, as we look towards 2027, we are asking everyone who is able to prayerfully consider increasing their regular giving.

Our aim is to increase regular giving from around £65,000 to £85,000 a year. This works out at an average of around £16 per week, or £71 per month, for each person on our electoral roll.

Of course, we know that everyone's circumstances are different. This isn't about everyone giving the same amount. It's about each of us asking God: “What would generous, joyful giving look like for me?”

The Bible reminds us that God loves a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 9:7), and that everything we have ultimately comes from him. Our giving is one of the ways we worship God and take part in his mission.

If you weren't able to be with us on Sunday, you can watch the sermon here:

Our Giving and Funding for 2027 leaflet is below, which gives more detail about our current financial position, where our money goes and what we're hoping to do in the coming year.

If you would like to increase your regular giving, or if you haven't yet joined our planned giving scheme, you'll find the details in the leaflet. Our preferred way of giving regularly is through the Parish Giving Scheme. Link to Parish giving scheme: HERE

Most importantly, please pray. Pray for St Margaret's, pray for our ministry among children and young people, pray for the people of Whitnash who don't yet know Jesus, and ask God how he wants you to respond.

Thank you for all that you already give – financially, through your time, your gifts, your prayers and your service. It is a real privilege to see what God is doing among us, and I'm excited about what lies ahead.

Let us rally behind our new church vision statement which is to be a church who are; Loving the Lord Jesus with our whole heart and loving our neighbours as ourselves.

Blessings,

Revd Ben Cook
