St Margaret's CCTV and security appeal
On the evening of Wednesday 15th July 2026, St Margaret’s Church was broken into.
The church suffered significant damage, with windows smashed, offices and the vestry ransacked, and extensive damage throughout the building. While no valuables were taken, a substantial amount of cash was stolen, including donations that had been generously given by our parishioners.
We are deeply saddened and shocked by what has happened and are working with the police as they begin their investigation.
We would like to encourage everyone in our parish and wider community to remain vigilant. Sadly, this serves as a reminder that there are people willing to cause damage and commit theft, even in places that exist to serve others.
Many people have kindly reached out to us with offers of prayer and support. Some have offered to donate money to make up for the losses. We are confident that our insurance will cover these losses, however he Police have suggested that we install CCTV and change our locks as soon as possible. Therefore we have set up this page for anyone whole would like to give money to help us upgrade the security at church. Please do not feel obliged to give, but if you can help us we would be most grateful! Please follow instructions below.
As a church, we follow Jesus and his example to love one another, even our enemies, therefore we are choosing to pray for those responsible. We pray that they have come to no harm, and that, in time, they may find healing, experience genuine regret for what they have done, and come to repentance.
As this church has done for generations, We will worship Jesus, the Light of the World, who casts out fear, brings hope in the midst of darkness, and whose love cannot be shaken by acts of hatred or destruction. Our doors remain open, and everyone is welcome!
